CASTING FOR THE ROLES OF:
CHARLIE
Visually in appearance, Charlie is a handsome, physically fit All-American male. Charlie's personality is that of an extremely confident and professional alpha-male. He projects an overall impression of being casually elite with a positive upper-class bearing. Charlie is ruggedly stylish in appearance and has a crispy clean attitude. Nevertheless, his personality is tempered by a need to find a woman will appreciate him for himself, rather than his personal fame and fortune. But, although Charlie is an extremely successful man, he is socially stunted by his naïve and social inexperience in his seemingly impossible quest to find the woman of his dreams. Charlie works as a very successful movie producer and director
FRANK
Visually in appearance, Frank is a physically average white male. Franks personality is that of a no-nonsense professional. He projects an overall impression of professional competence. Franks appearance is a mixture of upscale Bohemianism and Park Avenue flash. His personality is tempered by his impatience with aggressive untalented people who refuse to take no for an answer, and his own tendency to see and do everything faster than everyone else around him. Frank works as a very successful show business casting agent.
PAUL
Visually in appearance, Paul is a robust, smooth, porcelain complexioned female-impersonator. Although Paul restricts his female transformations to his evening activities, his daytime attire is nonetheless similarly colorful and outlandish. Paul's personality swirls with verbose displays of effeminate exuberance and flamboyant expressiveness. Nevertheless, his personality is tempered by his deep resentment of all those instances in his past, where he had been subjected to abuse, hate, discrimination and hurtful childish ridicule. Hidden beneath the make-up, lipstick and nail polish, Paul is actually a brilliant Stanford Cum Laude graduate, who unfortunately long-ago abandoned his scholarly pursuits for the warm embrace and welcoming arms of his fellow “Queens”. Paul works as a very successful female impersonator at a local homosexual stage bar and grill.
ALLEN
Visually in appearance, Allen is a handsome physically fit, mixed-race male. Allen's personality is that of an extremely confused individual resulting from an inability to cope with having a White mother and a Black father. Unlike his Bobbie, Allen doesn't consider himself to be African American, but rather a White person who has been cheated out of being White... and for all intents and purposes, Allen and his sister Allison appear to be completely White despite having a biological father who is a Black-man. Nevertheless, Allen's major protestations have nothing to do with race, but rather his transvestite brother Bobbie... in Allen's mind his Bobbie's sexual gender-twist is an unspeakable embarrassment, that he has had to suffer with for most of his life. As a consequence, Allen faults his brother with his own failings... Allen's inability to keep a job, his abusive attitude toward women, his lack of ambition, his alcoholism, his bad luck... he blames it on Bobbie. Allen's extreme homophobia transcends everything with the exception of his hated for Bobbie and his perversions. Allen is an unemployed construction worker who lives with his parents.
ALLISON
Visually in appearance, Allison is a beautiful physically fit, mixed-race female. Allison's personality is that of a very sensitive young lady, who looks and carries herself much the same as her mother. Unlike her brother Allen, Allison is not plagued with insecurities and failings. Allison has always been determined to move on with her life, despite Bobbie's “problem”. Allison regards Bobbie as her “sister”, and empathizes with her brother for the malicious treatment he has received for most of his life. Nevertheless, Allison's frustration with Bobbie has been the tendency of some people to demand an explanation from her for her brothers “weirdness” and to paint her with the similar sexual deviations. With Bobbie's unexpected visit home, Allison feels threatened in her relationship with the man of her dreams... a man who loves her and wants to marry her despite “Bobbie”... a relationship that could be ruined because of her brothers sexual gender problems... the possibility loosing her “man” has conjured up within her an overwhelming feeling of panic, fear and embarrassment. Allison works as a fifth grade public school teacher.
MOTHER
Visually in appearance, Mother is a loving and compassionate White woman. Mother's personality is that of an extremely shy and reserved lady. She loves her children, but unlike her husband, her love and concern for Bobbie has never wavered... she has extended a safe harbor into which Bobbie could always find peace and understanding. Nevertheless, Mother's problems with Bobbie continues to be the turmoil and emotional explosions that erupt when people come into contact with Bobbie. Because of the heart wrenching disruptions within her family, she is haunted with a sense of profound guilt, born out of being happier when Bobbie is out of sight and out of mind. Mother is a housewife.
FATHER
Visually in appearance, Father is an extremely light skinned African American man. His personality is that of a very reclusive person who tends to spend an inordinate amount of time in his upstairs room. Although he identifies with his son Bobbie in comparison to his other children, Father masks his affection for Bobbie with a facade of indifference in response to his sons desperation. While Father's attitude has been cool and aloof toward his entire family, secretly he loves and supports his son “Bobbie”. Father is a retired dentist.
