Well fortunately Pro Scout does things the legal way. They do conventions so it can be beneficial but usually I advise against it. Whether it's a good idea or not really depends on the person. A good thing to do would be to refer to Angelus' prior post on this. He's actually been to a few conventions (I myself have not).
It's really a good idea to weigh your options before going to any convention. I'd say it could be beneficial if you are absolutely new to the industry and live in remote areas. That could help you make SOME contacts (probably not a whole lot).
However to be honest a really intuitive person could make the same inroads by registering with sites like Model Mayhem, One Model Place, and of course MMT. The internet is a wonderful place and the information available is vast. All you need is a good discerning spirit so you can seperate the "good" from the "garbage".
